About my area

The Lot-et-Garonne, part of Nouvelle-Aquitaine is a region known for it’s good living and eating well (two of the many reasons we chose to live here!) With gorgeous weather, numerous Bastides and Castles, it is an agricultural region with over 200km of waterways, orchards and multiple outdoor activities. It is not only a place of tourism but also a cultural, relaxing, sporting and gastronomic experience! The Lot-et-Garonne also hosts many different celebrations, festivals, cultural and culinary events throughout the year. There is always something to do, however, nothing beats sitting in a French cafe watching the world go by. I live in Miramont-de-Guyenne, a lovely 13th Century bastide town with a vibrant weekly market and everything you could ask for on your doorstep. Just to the north is the fabulous Dordogne with Bergerac only a 30 minute drive away and Bordeaux a 1 hour 30 minute drive to the west, both with airports. There are also regular trains running from the nearby town of Marmande to Bordeaux and Agen.

About me

I am Australian but have lived in the UK periodically over the last 15 years. After my first visit to France as a child I was captivated by all things French. During our time in England, my husband, two children and myself ventured on two to three trips to France every year exploring as many different regions as we possibly could. After visiting the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne we knew this was where we wanted to live. The food, wine, countryside, amazing weather and such friendly people made it an easy choice. My husband and I like to say we have an Australian relaxed outdoor lifestyle……..but now accompanied with added history and culture! We have bought and sold numerous properties in Australia, the UK and now in France with Leggett which was a fantastic experience.
