How it works

First you have the fun part of choosing your new home in France with Leggett. Once you have your offer accepted, here are the simple steps to exchanging your currency with Lumon …

  1. Sign up for an account
  2. Agree the exchange rate over the phone with your dedicated account manager
  3. Receive confirmation of the exchange in writing
  4. Send us payment for the transfer
  5. Let us know the details of the recipient’s account
  6. We transfer the currency to your nominated recipient or Notaire
  7. Your recipient receives your funds

Booking your transfer

Lumon have a few options for you to choose from when it comes to booking your transfer depending on your needs and having a chat with your Account Manager will help you work out which one is best for you.

Spot Contract

Ideal for when you want to confirm your rate of exchange and have funds available to transfer quickly.

Forward Contract

Secure your rate for up to a year by paying a small deposit - great for while you are waiting for your house purchase to be processed and the Acte de Vente date to be confirmed.

Limit Order

If you have an exchange rate in mind, this allows you to make sure that your funds are exchanged as and when it is hit.

Stop Loss

Similar to a limit order, but this option ensures that your funds are exchanged before they fall below your chosen rate.

The Lumon rate is calculated by identifying the average margin across 98 spot GBP to EUR transactions with a value in the range of £25,000-£50,000 performed by Lumon Pay Ltd (“LPL”) for personal clients during March 2021. The margin is calculated using the mid-market rate, obtained from www.exchangerates.org.uk on the day the transaction was performed.
