One of the least explored areas of the country and remains relatively unspoilt in comparison to the coast.  The landscape is blessed with lakes, river valleys an rolling tree covered hills.  Many beautiful medieval towns and villages.  The city of Limoges has a wonderful medieval quarter and huge Gothic cathedral. 

A highly affordable area although prices are unlikely to see great rises in the medium term future.    However, the new airport at Brieve-La-Gaillarde (Aeroport Brive-Souillac) is likely to open up this area to second home buyers.

The Creuse is a very green area - known as La Verte for this reason.  The Correze, in the southern part, is popular with buyers looking for a quality destination without the cost of the Dordogne nearby, although may be the most expensive of the three departments of this region, and an excellent rental market. However, some of the best bargains are to be found in the rural department of Haute-Vienne.

Two perhaps little known facts of interest:

• Jacques Chirac is from Sarran in the Correze
• The limousine car takes its name from the all enveloping shepherd's cloak once worn around this area
