When moving home, those of us with 4 legged friends, particularly horses, have a responsibility to ensure we have done the right thing! From an amateur horse owner’s perspective, Sarah Edwards can give you the low down on suitable property and facilities in her region. From hay to farriers, if Sarah does not know where, who or how, she will find out for you. The French equestrian vocabulary is another “hurdle” which Sarah has already jumped so if you are stuck for words, look no further – carrière, foin, manège, obstacle, paille, fers, veterinaire, élevage, poulain, jument, etc …

Whether you import your existing equine friends or whether you purchase them here they will need to be vaccinated against rabies, tetanus and flu and all animals reared in France should be registered with the “Haras Nationaux” and be chipped for identification before January 2008. A useful site, if you understand written French is:
