A little story about the Domaine; It was a hamlet that housed several families which included seven houses, a common oven, a chapel. People lived there in autonomy, they raised cattle and farmed the land. Following the rural exodus, the village was abandoned and a fire destroyed most of the houses before the Second World War.
The place remained abandoned for decades and was purchased in a state of ruin in the late fifties by a specialist medical doctor living in Beziers, for a family holiday home. He pulled down most of the ruins and retrieved all materials, slate, schist stones ... to restore two houses. He installed electricity and a telephone line. He located the source of the spring water to have running water in the houses. He planted spruces and Douglas pine trees that promised, at the time, substantial income.
He spent his retirement in Cabanié with his wife and was mayor of the beautiful village of Gijounet for many years.
