Heather Byrne Independent Agent, says :
This is an interesting renovation project for sale with loads of character and features. The house is habitable albeit at a basic level, and this of course means all the services are at the house so that’s a big tick for this project. The barn adjoins the house to the side and above and there is huge scope to develop a great ski chalet that is also wonderful in the summer.

The village is charming; nestled in the Massif de la Tarentaise the location offering wonderful views, easy access to many mountain activities all year round and the most beautiful walks. This is predominantly a French village and they are a friendly bunch as I found out when I visited.
The property is divided into a small 2 bedroom house and large barn at the moment and spread over three floors to an potential approx floor space of 290m2 plus mezzanine;
GROUND FLOOR
- Small terrace.
- Kitchen/diner.
- shower room with WC.
- Storage area accessed via the barn.
- Ecurie (area of barn where cattle were housed)
FIRST FLOOR foot print on this floor is 11.8x8.2m giving 97m2 which over the three floors gives 290m2.
- Bedroom with balcony.
- Bedroom.
-Open barn used for storing equipment.
SECOND FLOOR
- Undeveloped floor of barn used for storing hay.
If you look at the lead picture you can see that it will also probably be possible to create a mezzanine level in the eaves if you so wished which looks like it could be quite a good size. From the floor level of the 1st floor in the barn it measures approx 6.377m to the highest point of the roof.
LAND
The property is adjoined to a small house to the left as you look at the pictures which is owned by separately. Behind the property is an area of land 85m2 ideal for additional parking and a sunny garden, total grounds including house foot print equals 237m2.
Directly in front of the property is the village water font next to which is some village parking beyond which stretch the wonderful views hat you’ll enjoy from the property.
AREA
Stunning in both the winter and summer this is an area of outstanding beauty. In the winter you have the added bonus of the ski area known at the Grand Domain just 5 minutes drive away. The Grand Domain’s most well known ski resort is Valmorel, a favourite with families who don’t want to spend a fortune but do want a good quality ski holiday. The French love it here.
Your nearest ski resort is called Doucy Combelouvière which has been carefully designed respecting the village tradition of regrouping chalet-style buildings around a central square making it the focal point of the resort.
Doucy shares the Grand Domain ski area and there is easy access to the slopes. The resort is an ideal place for families and those who enjoy the more tranquil alpine resorts. And in Doucy-Combelouvière you can ski in view of the Mont Blanc and the mountain range of La Lauzière. It is also very popular and busy in the summer when tourists come to enjoy every type of mountain activity as well as the beautiful views and flower meadows.
The ski area offers a diversity of terrain for the confirmed and adventurous skiers on the vertiginous black slopes and yet is also reassuring for beginners and children to learn on the gentle slopes of summer pastures. If you’re feeling adventurous get yourself a guide, the off-piste is meant to be interesting! So in winter this resort sits best with beginners and intermediates but also has a lot to offer the more hardened skier who is prepared to seek out the challenges.
Before I lived here I used to come for long ski weekends to le Grand Domain – and never had a dull visit, it always delivered for me.
Down the valley from this village you’ll find La Léchère a small thermal resort which provides all sorts of therapies to experiment with!
In summer it’s a delight, the cycling in particular is stunning both road and mountain biking with plenty of refuges open for very good lunches whether you’re on foot or saddle. This is a great place to buy with prices lower than its neighbouring resorts in the Three Valleys, Paradiski and Espace Killy mostly because it hasn’t got the following that the others have.
BUSINESS
Of course as a renovation project this has not got a business background but the area encourages good rentals and a ski chalet business would be very achievable from this location.
