I live close to the borders of the Manche, Orne, Mayenne and Ile et Vilaine departments in a very rural area surrounded by rolling green fields. There is great walking, cycling and all manner of outdoor pursuits if you are that way inclined. For you star gazers, they are to die for and life here is so relaxed. I am really close to the Basse Normandie regional park and forest, yet am less than an hour from some fabulous beaches and seafood. As you may have guessed, there is lots of agriculture around here that gives us fantastic produce, scrumptious cheese like Camembert, not forgetting wonderful local cider and calvados apple brandy, which are staples in this part of the world. There is something for everyone in Normandy and property is still very affordable. With great transport links, friends and family are never far away. Ferry ports such as Cherbourg, Caen, St Malo, Le Havre. Rennes and Dinard airports are all easily accessible, along with the rest of La Belle France.
I moved to France with my 2 cats to start a new adventure. Having been made redundant and after working in publishing for a number of years, I thought long and hard what I wanted to do next. Getting out of the rat race was high on my list of priorities. I bought my house in Normandy in 2008 as a second home and investment and it is in fact one of my best impetuous decisions ever. Now, here we are living in the middle of spectacular countryside in the very south of Normandy. I have fallen in love with this area, the wonderful food and the great people. I feel so very lucky to live in a fantastic part of France and to work for an organisation like Leggett. It is definitely possible to make your dreams a reality.
