My area covers Brittany (Cotes d’Armor-Morbihan-Finistere) Here you find some wonderful historic towns and the scenery is just beautiful. You are not far from the fantastic Pink Granite beaches and easy connections to the UK via Dinard, St Malo & Rennes aswell as Roscoff, Nantes, Caen and Cherbourg. I am close to a lovely town called Loudeac with a wide range of banks, shops, restaurants and supermarkets. It also has great facilities for swimming, karate and many other sports. Loudeac is famous for its horses and hosts La fête Du Cheval every year which is a fantastic family day out. Just outside town is the 2,500 hectare Forêt de Loudéac. Originally part of the Brocéliande forest which stretched across Brittany, the national forest offers lots of scope for exploring and leisure activities with 30 miles of way-marked footpaths, protected plants and wildlife. Great local markets can be regularly visited almost every day of the week. There is also a fantastic expat community here from retired people to young families. Brittany is famous for its great cidre, crêpes & galettes, an experience one cannot miss.
We bought our house in 2005 as a holiday home with a 5-10 year plan of living here. In 2006 we had an opportunity to work and live in Hong Kong our 1st experience living as expatriates. Although a great lifestyle, experience and climate (also some wonderful holidays) after long summer’s spent in France and loving the area, people and opportunity for our children we decided in 2008 to live here. I stayed in France on my own for 8 months with our 2 children whilst my partner finished work in HK, facing the challenges of settling our 9 year old into a local school, learning the language and raising our toddler in a remote area. One thing I have learnt is that it has certainly been worth it for the entire family as we love France, our children are much happier, healthier and love the people and speaking the language. An environment that is safe and pollution free. We spend more time as a family here even with my partner working away all week. We love walking, gardening, having fun growing and eating our own vegetables and living a stress free life – something we feel would be hard to achieve any where else in the world. France has a wonderful family culture that it has firmly kept hold of, something that I value to bring my children up in. Now our family is really settled. I have joined Leggett Immobilier because of my love for France, its landscape and property. I want to share my experience to help others to live their dream and achieve it.
