I am fortunate enough to live and work in the beautiful region of Basse-Normandy. My area lays between the medieval town of Domfront (61) and the bustling market towns of Vire (14) and St Hilaire (50). It incorporates the Parc Natural with its wildlife and stunning countryside, the Valle de la See with its winding river and the highest point in Normandy at Chalieu with spectacular views right across to Mont Saint Michel over 30km away.
One visit to the Basse Normandy region in 2002 was to change my life forever. My partner and I bought a holiday home on impulse, then spent every spare minute we could crossing the channel to enjoy it! The attraction was simple - vast open countryside, quiet roads, an appreciation of the seasons, virtually no crime and a simple culture which embraces the enjoyment of family and friends. In 2004 the attraction was so strong that we moved here permanently. To early to retire we opened a bar and restaurant in our nearest town. We quickly became embraced by the local community and over the years made many friends. In 2007 we decided to changed direction and bought a 70 acre farm and launched our ground works business. Sharing responsibilities, I get to look after our large flock of sheep and he digs holes!!! My love, knowledge and experience of living and working in this fantastic area of France motivated me to become an agent commercial for Leggett Immobilier.
