The Savoie (area 73) is part of the vast and varied Rhone Valley region, and tucked away in a corner is the largest ski area in Europe – the Three Valleys, where I work. With a landscape of glistening lakes, impregnable white topped mountains, fast flowing rivers, death defying gorges, dark forests and verdant plains this is truly a stunning and unique place to own a property. This is a place where wild boar still roams the dense forests and eagles soar in the clear blue skies above, a place where you can walk for hours without seeing a single soul - yep it really is that good! Every season is much defined and brings a new slant on the area. The Savoie is a place of good food and good living, and the people are kind, generous and importantly know how to have a good knees up. Here there is something for everyone in every respect alongside a wide range of properties to suit every taste and budget.
If you seek ski property then it varies from the huge purpose built ski resorts such as Les Menuires, Val Thorens and Courchevel 1850, to the pretty village resorts such as St Martin de Belleville and La Praz. In resorts you can find tiny studio apartments purely designed to provide a ski base to get you skiing as cheaply as possible all the way through to the ultra luxury ski chalets of the super rich with helipads and luxury spas.
If you’re after an all year round life in the mountains and summer, a time of outstanding beauty in the mountains, is also of interest to you then all the surrounding villages and towns provide everything you can ask for. Here there are barns to renovate, little village houses to refurbish, and quiet corners where the inhabitants still sit outside their houses in rickety chairs chatting in the evening sunshine and exchanging the day’s news. Down in the valleys there is a rich variety of properties from farms and family homes alongside the riverside houses and stunning lakeside properties.
If you don’t find what you’re looking for in our portfolio then just give me a call, tell me what you want and I’ll go out and find your dream property for you.
We, my husband and I, relocated to France after some soul searching and since making the move we’ve been 100% certain that we did the right thing. As ski fanatics and mountain lovers the only place to live in France is the Alps. I’ve been in Alpine property for nearly four years and get tremendous satisfaction from helping other people to find their dream home. In my previous life I was involved in recruitment and find that being an estate agent is very similar – still matchmaking, still trying to make the perfect pairing, but with properties now instead of jobs.
