About my area

The Savoie (department 73) is home to some of the world’s great ski areas. I am lucky enough to live in the village of Macot-La-Plagne at the foot of the road to La Plagne, which, along with Les Arcs, forms the incredible PARADISKI ski area; with some 425kms of piste this is one of the world’s largest ski areas.
For those of you looking for a place in the mountains then there is something for everyone, from ski in ski out studios and apartments to large and luxurious chalets.
The high altitude, purpose built ski villages offer the ultimate in ski in ski out convenience. Further down the mountain more traditional villages such as Montchavin, Montalbert and Vallandry offer rustic charm as well as swift access to the higher altitude slopes. Those of you looking for more space for your money might want to look at valley villages such as Macot and Landry with access to world class skiing only 10-15 minutes away by car.
This part of France is not just about skiing and winter sports. In spring, summer and autumn the cows and sheep take over the pistes and there are a whole host of activities on offer. So, if you are feeling active, why not have a go at walking, cycling, mountain biking, white water rafting, canoeing or parapenting to name just some of the possibilities. If you are feeling a bit lazier then grab a coffee outside a café, enjoy the sunshine and watch the lycra clad world pass by. Fancy a pizza? — Why not drive over the mountain pass into Italy—FANTASTIC.

About me

My wife, Fiona, and I moved to our part of The Alps in the autumn of 2002 to set up our own ski company. We were both teachers back in the UK but had taken time out to work as chalet hosts in La Plagne and been involved in organising many ski holidays and school trips. We always holidayed in and around La Plagne and, along with good friends, always talked about setting up our own ski company----usually after too many glasses of vino!!! Eventually we took the plunge and ran our company for 6 happy and successful seasons before deciding it was time to move on.
Clearly we must have done something right as not only did we have guests who came to see us season after season, several of them bought property out here and I was on hand to help with finding properties, the buying process and renovation work. It seemed a logical step to move into helping people find their little bit of mountain heaven on a more permanent basis.
In summer 2004 we bought our house in the lovely village of Macot-La –Plagne at the foot of the road to La Plagne. . Our son, Benjamin, was born in June 2005 and has just had his first week’s skiing lessons—at the ripe old age of three. We have also acquired a crazy cocker spaniel, Poppy.
We all love the outdoor life out here. As keen skiers this is obviously an amazing place to live but, in many ways, we prefer the spring, summer and autumn with long, hot sunny days for most of the time.
