About my area

We live in La Roche-Posay, famous for its thermal spas and its eponymous skin care range. As a tourist resort it attracts visitors from all over the world. We have recently welcomed people from Martinique, Guadalope and the USA and are looking forward to some Swedish guests arriving soon. La Roche-Posay is within easy reach of Poitiers, Futuroscope, and many of the Loire Valley Châteaux. England is not so far away as it is such an easy drive to the airports of Poitiers, Tours or Limoges, also there are 4 major Channel ferry ports only about 4hrs drive from here and the TGV from Paris to Châtellerault takes less than 1 1/2hrs. Here at Cherry Lodge we often have visitors who are looking for a home in France or sometimes are actually in the process of making that move and we like to help them with getting their utilities set up, quotes in or just finding their feet. We are hoping that working with Leggett gives us even more opportunities to show people this beautiful area of France and at the same time give us the chance to revisit places and keep on discovering new ones...

About me

I remember getting the “French property news” delivered regularly to my parents house in the late 80’s, before I even bought a house in England, such has been my passion for the property and lifestyle to be had over here. Later in life I couldn’t even persuade my wife to move down the road but the mention of a wine cellar and a few carefully chosen photographs later we “legged it” to this charming region of France, one which we had never visited before, whose secrets we are still discovering five years on. Our home is an 18th century farmhouse which we renovated along with the old stables thus enabling us to open our gite business which comprises four apartments and a swimming pool . We all benefit from the change in climate, the real sunshine and the outdoor living. Our two boys Oliver(7) and Henry (4) are well settled in at the local school and amaze us with their command of the French language. We all appreciate our family time together and have a lot of fun exploring the regions castles and villages. The scenery is stunning from vineyards to forests and fields of sunflowers we cherish every day.
