About my area

I live in the Poitou-Charentes region, at the north tip of the Charente in equal reach to three cities with main line train stations and airports, Poitiers, Angoulême and Limoges. Only an hour and a half drive from the Atlantic coast, here the countryside starts rolling into luscious green hills as we start to approach the « Massive Central ». This area benefits from many water sources such as the river Vienne, the river Charente and numerous lakes, offering fishing and water sports, or even bungee jumping off a viaduct over the river Vienne! A lot of the surrounding countryside are meadows (bright green and yellow in the spring), and woodland, brimming with fauna and flora! With all of the off road tracks and small country lanes, here you may go almost anywhere without coming across a main road. Most of the local villages and towns offer weekly markets, one for each day of the week. These are great for fresh and local food, but also for socializing. Having a chat with the locals or just watching the world go by, on a café terrace, whilst sipping a glass of wine and eating the cheese you just bought. All in all, the life here is peaceful and layed back and yet you may find many exciting activities just on the door step. Not too far from the sea, not too far from the mountains... The perfect location.

About me

I moved to France as a young girl with my family 17 years ago. I have been brought up “à la Française” without forgetting about my British roots. Having been through the french education system and having almost an all french circle of friends, I have totally integrated the french way of life. I wouldn’t go back to England for anything in the world, I absolutely love it here! The friendly smile on everyone’s face, the love of simple things, the food, the long hot summer evenings... I could go on for ever. The french way of life, away from the hustle and bustle, is MY cup of tea!
