The Vallée du Loir, the 'little brother' of the Vallée de La Loire, is a well-kept secret. It is an area definitely worth considering if you are looking to move to France. This beautiful region is made up of gently rolling hills, meandering rivers, vineyards and forests, and is dotted with pretty historical towns and villages. Each has its own character, with a strong sense of community emanating from their individual festivals and markets throughout the year. The temperate climate ensures plenty of sunshine, but it is rarely too hot for outdoor activities. There is plenty on offer for visiting friends and family, whether they are interested in châteaux, vineyards, wildlife or physical activities (swimming, horse riding, trekking, cycling, canoeing…). It is in between Le Mans, Tours and Angers, combining the advantages of relaxed, country living with the convenience of easy access to cities. The location is ideal for travel to and from the UK by road (around 3 hours to the ferry ports), air (Ryanair flights from Tours airport to London Stansted) or train (less than 1 hour to Paris), and also has motorway links to the rest of France.
I spent most of my early years in France, and did my baccalaureate here. Since then I have lived all over the world (UK, Asia, America, the Middle East), but I always had a yearning to come back to France. I discovered and fell in love with the Loir Valley when I organized track events at the Le Mans race circuit for Lotus Cars, and also during flying trips to the area with my husband. In 2007 we bought a partially renovated farmhouse with lots of land (including of course a grass strip for the plane), and moved here permanently in 2013. We love the relaxed lifestyle, the food and drink, the clement weather, the ease of access to the UK, Paris and the rest of France. We lead a peaceful life, still renovating the house, growing fruit and vegetables, maintaining the land, enjoying our animals (dog, cat, pot-bellied pig, miniature goat, hens…). Working for Leggett has given me the opportunity to visit beautiful properties and to meet interesting people. There is nothing more satisfying to me than finding the perfect match between the two. I am confident that with my strong local network and fluent French I’ll be able to help you find your dream home and facilitate the purchase - so please get in touch to discuss your needs.
