About my area

Pézenas is located in the Hérault department and part of the larger region of Occitanie which extends down from Nîmes down to the Pyrenees border with Spain. The historic centre of Pézenas retains a distinct charm with its late 16th century residences and maze of cobbled side streets. Famous for its arts and craft workshops, you’ll find individually crafted items; from pottery and sculpture, to clothing and jewellery that you can be sure you’ll find no place else. I particularly enjoy the Saturday morning market and the Friday evening soirées that are held each week in the summer where the whole town comes alive with activity in the cool of the evening. If wine is your thing (like me!) the area has more vines planted than anywhere else in the world and offers exceptional diversity in “terroir” (a combination of winemaker, climate and soils). From the saltiness of a piquepoul de pinet, to the spicy syrahs of the Pic Saint-Loup there is something here for everyone. Don’t hesitate to ask if you would like guidance on where to go for a tasting! Marseillan, Mèze and Bouzigues are fishing villages on the Étang de Thau. These lovely villages are famed for their oysters and other seafood and each has a collection of restaurants lining the pretty harbours. The area benefits from an excellent transport network so getting around isn’t a problem. Low cost Ryan Air flights to Béziers, the TGV, and several motorways provide excellent links to local and international destinations. All of these factors means Occitanie is fast becoming the place to be and sits alongside Provence (without the price tag!) for great wine, great weather, beautiful landscapes, uncrowded beaches and a very welcoming local population.

About me

Fully bilingual and with dual French/English nationality, my adventure started when I moved to France five years ago, keen to learn more about my French heritage and to pursue a passion for wine and all things gastronomy. I had had enough of the 9/5 office routine and usual nightmare commute into work, so dropped my suitcase on a vineyard nestled in an isolated corner of the Minervois. I lived with the seasons, relying on a rusty old push-bike with a wonky saddle as my only means of transport. I learnt how to make wine and tend to the vines, but also a great deal about marketing and selling. A year passed, and having achieved my objective of completing a wine business degree at Montpellier University moved on in my adventure. I felt the cool breeze of the Mediterranean calling, and with that, the refreshing wines of Piquepoul de Pinet. I developed a keen interest in the culture, lifestyle and architectural heritage of the area, from the slate-roof cottages of the Haut Languedoc, to the little fishing villages on the bassin de Thau. Foreigners and French alike began to ask for my help and advice , and now focus on combining my knowledge and passion for the local area with finding people their dream property.
