This site dates back to 16th century but the current chateau built in 1870 offers beautiful, serene, airy elegant living. Isle Jourdain is only 5 minutes drive so all amenities are easily available. | At the end of its long driveway the chateau looms up in front of you from behind the wooded approach. Immediately, you are struck by the tranquil and magestic surroundings. With woodland, a large pond full of carp, fields suitable for grazing and access to the River Vienne from the land this beautiful chateau welcomes you as it dominates the views down towards the river. All the rooms are light and airy giving onto the views that surround the estate. The entrance hall of 40m² leads into the Drawing Room of almost 80m² divided into 2. There is a fireplace in each room, wood panelling, ceiling roses, coving and wood flooring. The french doors lead out to the balcony overlooking the land and river on the south side of the chateau. The Dining Room of approx 40m² has been beautifully finished and again overlooks that estate. To the east side of the hallway near the Dining Room is the door to the kitchen 30m² with fireplace and woodburner. The kitchen is fully fitted and has double glazed doors to a sun terrace/balcony with the best views of all. On the west side of the the great hall is a downstairs cloakroom and a door leading to the tower and stairwell. The first floor opens onto a landing of approx 40m² which in turn leads to 5 large bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. All the bedrooms have large picture windows with fabulous views over the land and river. The stairs continue up to the 2nd floor which has not yet been refurbished but is divided into 9 rooms. Perfect for another 5 or 6 bedrooms and bathrooms accordingly. At the top of the main stairwell is the tower room, perfect for an artists studio or hideaway. The attic is accessed by further stairs from the 2nd floor, all is in good condition. The Basement runs the full surface area of the house and includes "servants bedrooms", a bathroom and WC, garden room, storage rooms, wood storage, oil fired boiler room and Summer kitchen with a door to the exterior - perfect for garden barbecues and parties.
The barn and stables are set away from the main residence but are visible making them ideal if you want to keep horses. This building does need some refurbishment but has water and electricity and is an attractive ancient stone building.
Airports for flights to London and the North West UK are found at Limoges and Poitiers each only a 40minute drive from the Property.
