The cherries ripen here earlier than anywhere else in France (the end of April this year!) and are celebrated with the Fête des Cerises at the end of May.
Only half an hour from the sandy beaches of Argelés Plage and the picturesque ports of the Cote Vermillion, Ceret is also only 10 minutes from the A9 autoroute and half an hour from the nearest airport at Perpignan (Ryanair). The town of Perpignan, on the river Tet, is the capital of the department of Pyrenées Orientales is well served with shopping centres and administrative services.
In the foothills of the Pyrenées Céret is also an ideal base for exploring the mountains, on foot or by car. The mild winter climate makes them accessible all year round as there is very little snow.
