The property is reached from a long private through the woods, these are owned by the property. At the top of the hill you see the old chateau walls and the houses are entered through the original gateway. Some of these walls date back to the 12 century and some even earlier. There are gardens surrounging all the buildings and praries and woods too.
The first house consists of a large drawing room, with a huge castle fireplace, this leads through to a good sized kitchen with high ceilings, from here there is a door to the garden and a great view of the old circuclar pidgeonaire.
There are two bedrooms in this part of the house and a bathroom, there is lots of scope to convert the loft space too. One of the main features of this house is the magnificent terrace, this is truly spectacular and has breathtaking views of the castle of Bourdeilles in the distance. Here you really could spend long evenings or days just admiring the views, lounging on the terrace or dining and entertaining al fresco, there are four lovely old stone pillars, which reminded me somewhat of Tuscany?
The 'pizets' floors in this house are amazing, the current owner has restored them where they were in need of repair, but has managed to keep their original character all intact.
There is a second house again with a small kitchen, drawing room and a whole top floor that could be converted into further accomodation, this again has huge rooms with old castle fireplaces and wonderful floors.
It is a very difficult property to describe, it would make a great boutique hotel or a secret getaway to just relax and enjoy a wonderful piece of French history.
