Unusually for a Moncontour house it has a garden which is a good size and very pretty. With 3 large bedrooms, all with en suite facilities and room for further development it would make a generously sized holiday home or a lovely permanent residence. Oozing with period features; spiral staircases, half timbering and beams it is an exceptionally lovely property. | On the ground floor the house has a large kitchen/diner with a stone fireplace, wood burning stove and double patio doors opening onto the terrace and the garden. There is a large sitting room full of character with exposed beams, a wonderful pair of built in cupboards and a further fireplace. Spiral staircases lead off to the first floor and the cellar which has good headroom, is dry and has a small window at street level. There is also a WC on the ground floor.
On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom and the other two with en suite showers and sinks and there is a central toilet off the landing. The rooms are all freshly decorated in pastel colours and have brand new fittings, a small amount of work remains to be finished, but nothing major.
From the first floor landing there is a door to a spiral staircase to the attic which has good headroom and large velux style windows; this could easily be converted to create further bedroom space.
Moncontour is renowned for its architectural splendor and regular medieval festivals. It has a small weekly market, small supermarket, butchers, charcuterie, boulangerie, patissier, poissonerie, several café-bars, restaurants, a crèperie, pharmacy, doctors, nurses, dentist, physiotherapist, vet and 2 hotels.
The local area is beautiful and less than half an hour from the Emerald Coast with its clean sandy beaches and safe swimming. Lamballe, 15km away is the nearest town and has a large weekly market, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants amongst its half-timbered buildings. It's also famous as the home of Brittany's working horse breeding and training centre which hosts open air concerts throughout the summer, as indeed does Moncontour itself.
Access is so easy, whether it's for you or your guests. Well under an hour away are the ferries of St Malo which arrive from Portsmouth, Poole and the Channel Islands or Dinard airport with its regular RyanAir flights from East Midlands, Birmingham, London and Bristol. If that's not enough, in easy reach are Roscoff, Brest, Rennes, Nantes, Caen and Cherbourg with a variety of ferries and flights from all over the UK; there is also a TGV service to Rennes which is an hour away.
