There is a strong rumour Angoulême airport will be doing European fights soon. It is not a massive town, but has an old town centre on a plateau, overlooking the Charente river and the out-lying modern parts. Atmospheric narrow cobbled streets wind around the 19th century market, Mairie, old churches and the Cathedral. Restaurants and cafes spill onto the streets amongst shops you would expect in a Prefecture town . The airports of Bergerac, Bordeaux, Limoges and Poitiers are easily accessible from this property. Also the TGV trains to Paris, Lille and London leave from the town of Angoulême Angoulême airport will be doing European fights soon, probably in spring 2008.
