Behind the sea, there is a rich beautiful landscape like nowhere else in France: pretty hill villages, olive groves and lavender fields are dotted over most of this department called the Alpes Maritime, while the well known towns hug the beautiful coastline with that perfect blue sea.
From the Italian border the sea, the beaches and boat marinas are everywhere: firstly the attractive old town of Menton, once part of Italy until the mid19th century with Nice, past Cap Martin and Roquebrune, with sumptious houses and apartments all the way into Monaco and Monte Carlo, moving onto St Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze up the hill, the bay at Villefranche sur Mer , to the large and always intersting city of Nice with its Italian style streets and piazzas, down the Promenade des Anglais with wide pavements to the Mediterranean to Nice Airport, passing by one Grimaldi Chateau on the hill, the Renoir house/museum, the Cagnes sur Mer racecourse, golf courses, more marinas, then Antibes with its Vauban fortifactions, the next Grimaldi Chateau and Picasso museum in his old house: Juan les Pins famous in the 60's and the town of Golfe Juan, where Napoleon started his great March to Waterloo in 1815 and finally we arrive in Cannes, famous for its Croisette, festivals, hotels and shops, but on a smaller scale than Nice. Set in a bay with mountains and hills as a backdrop, this one of the jewels of the Côte d’Azur.
The question is, what can’t you do in this part of the world? It has everything, and that is what makes it so appealing as the spot to live and invest in.
