Watch out for the biggest bike race in the world – and all the great properties along the route!

The 104th edition of the world’s most famous bike race is well under way and it’s passed through some fabulous areas popular with British buyers.

So far the peloton has whizzed through the vineyards of Burgundy (where Brits made up 22 per cent of all overseas buyers) with its iconic vineyards and chateaux then to Bergerac and Eymet in the Dordogne – two perennially popular areas of this region of the south-west stacked with historic and buzzing little market towns rich with gastronomic interest.

Then it moved into the Tarn – check out Gaillac, famed for its wine and jazz festivals where you can get a two-bedroom village house there for under €90,000 – then the French Alps and lovely Briançon where you most buyers spend €300,000 to €450,000 and use their property all year round, according to our local agent. There are two fabulous areas for stunning homes – Provence and Marseille – before the finale in Paris, where we have dozens of winning homes too.
