About my area

I adore living in the Morbihan in Southern Brittany and being just 5 minutes from the medieval town of Rochefort en terre and the market town of Questembert. My takes in a beautiful area as far as Josselin over to Redon and back to Vannes. In recent years the Morbihan has become one of the most sought after areas in France due to it’s beauty and wonderful coastline and the 365 islands of the gulf of Morbihan and because of it’s reputation as a safe and family friendly area of France. There are many sides to the Morbihan (meaning little sea) and lots to discover. The mild climate, wild shores, jagged coasts, legendary forests, mysterious menhirs and flowered canals being just some! Myths and legends are in abundance in King Arthurs forest of Broceliande. Brittany is also renowned throughout France for its strong Celtic music culture. Very current and very much alive among the locals! Giving a very special atmosphere to this special part of France!

About me

It was a hard decision to make to move away from the lovely town of Brighton and the South Coast of England to a tiny French village where no one spoke English except me!!! But, having a newborn son did help, and I soon became accepted and developed new friends and learned to enjoy the very quiet rural French life. My language skills surprised me as my Franglais soon turned into pigeon French and then suddenly I could hold down a conversation with the mums at the school gates. Hooray I had arrived!! Now, some 27 years later, I live in an even smaller village near Ploermel in the beautiful Morbihan and my children are now grown and left home. They have benefited from being brought up completely bilingual and, as we have always managed to keep strong ties with friends in England, and with my family, they both adore, all that is English, from Doctor Who to Marmite!!!
