About my area

I am very lucky to live in Lower Normandy, just on the border of Calvados and Manche, deep in the countryside surrounded by rolling hills and lush green fields, which are simply stunning. My area offers the best of both world’s peaceful idyllic hamlets and villages yet never too far away from a bustling market town, with many locals offering regional produce such as cheese’s, cream’s and ciders! With an array of national parks, it’s perfect for those walking and cycling enthusiasts, a number of water sport centres offer sailing, canoeing and kayaking. The historical northern D-Day coast with museums and various tourist attractions is around an hour away. The western coastline features beautiful beaches and resorts and of course the famous Le Mont Saint Michel. With good access to the UK, the ports of Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo are all around 90 minutes away. The airports of Dinard and Rennes provide daily flights to many regional airports in the UK too.

About me

After spending many enjoyable holidays in France with our young children my husband and I fell in love with lower Normandy. It has everything we wanted, beautiful countryside, quaint towns and villages, and a slower pace of life. However more importantly we both wanted our children to be free and experience a childhood like we did many moons ago, this rural part of France opened up that window of opportunity. So in 2016 we packed our bag’s, not forgetting our four legged friends and headed over to experience a new lifestyle. We haven’t looked back; we are enjoying becoming self sufficient, with vegetables, salads and fruits from our poly-tunnel, our six ‘named’ hens provide us with plenty of eggs too! Our children have happily settled in the local village school, they are free to explore our local hamlet and enjoy nothing more than a cycle ride to the boulangerie for a baguette!
