About my area

Based in the south-east corner of beautiful, bountiful Morbihan about an hour from Rennes and right next to Ille-et-Vilaine and not far from the Loire Atlantique, we have wonderful countryside, thriving villages, quaint hamlets and are never too far from towns like Malestroit, Josselin and Redon with their medieval centres and modern surrounding areas and in easy reach of sandy beaches or rocky coastline. We even have the Nantes-Brest Canal right through the middle too! If you want rural or urban, old stone or newer, you’re likely to find a good mix of types and prices, along with lovely welcoming communities.

About me

As a family, we had holidayed just into the Loire Atlantique for 10 years and always daydreamed about being here. Then, realising the danger of getting too caught up in the typical UK lifestyle of mortgage ties and work pressures for us ‘grown-ups’ and educational and social pressures for our two primary-aged children, we decided to look seriously into moving to France to free ourselves. We have been very lucky (or maybe it was ‘meant to be’) as within 5 months of putting our UK house on the market, we had sold and moved out here permanently and are now in a gorgeous house with a chunk of land, mortgage-free with the children in the local village school (no uniform, no school on Wednesdays and no exams) and only about an hour away from our favourite holiday beach place. The most stressful part was trying to sort out the procedure and paperwork for bringing our two bunnies with us, which wasn’t resolved until the day before we left! As well as being a great place for a holiday home, I would also definitely suggest a French move to anyone looking to ditch the rat race for a more relaxed family life and a more carefree upbringing for children. While I’m writing this, there are two tractors reversing up the lane outside so it must be rush hour! And I’m still indulging my interest in property and house-hunting by doing it for other people now so I hope I can help you make your dream come true too.
