I live at the crossroads of three departments Gironde, Dordogne and Lot et Garonne (Pays Foyen)in a little village called St Méard de Gurçon it’s a charming village with lots of amenities . The village is ideally situated in the western Dordogne, the area the French call the Perigord Pourpre or Purple Perigord, after the excellent red wines produced here. We're just 6 miles north of the delightful town of Ste. Foy la Grande. The area is also a major centre for gastronomy, with locally produced duck and goose providing the ingredients for fine foie gras, paté and confits. Fresh fish and seafood comes to us from the Atlantic, just an hour away, and oysters from the great beds at Arcachon. The village is just 30 minutes from Bergerac Airport,. Bordeaux Airport is less than an hour's drive away and boasts a wide range of international flights and connections .All of the above is why I love living in France and the area we have chosen.
I am Helen Charlesworth and I have lived in France for 15 years with my daughter who now works for Leggett Immobilier in the Contracts department. I run a Bed and Breakfast called " Happy Days" in my spare time.I have integrated into village life very well and I am President of the association St Me'art et Fêtes.View Aquitaine Information Homepage
