Valserhone is a beautiful town at the confluence of two rivers, i.e. Rhone and Valserine, at the foot of the Haut-Jura Natural Park, part of the Department of Ain and neighboring the Department of Haut-Savoie in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps Region of eastern France.
Valserhone is particularly enticing due to the relatively cheap prices of houses and plots compared to the prices in other French towns and villages close to Geneva. It is attractive for people who want to have a property in a picturesque setting that is neighbouring Switzerland.
Several trails allow to appreciate the natural heritage of the town. A walk leading to an amazing geological site Pertes de Valserine and Voie du Tram are on the bucket list for hikers, photographers and fans of stunning natural landscapes. Climbing, VTT, paragliding, martial arts, swimming, fishing – there’s everything needed for sport lovers.

Valserhone is a merger of three communes: Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, Chatillon-en-Michaille and Lancrans, with total population of nearly 17 000 inhabitants in 2020 and total surface area of 62,53 km2.
The town is known for its excellent transport infrastructure having a direct highway connection /A40/ and a regular railway service to various destinations in France and Switzerland: Paris, Annecy, Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva. You can go to the city centre or the International Airport of Geneva in 25-40 minutes from Bellegarde railway station.
Local people are proud of the history of the town, its sustainable economic development and incredible unique nature. The economic growth and development of the town depend on technical equipment, plastics, aerosol packing, extraction and other industries.
The castle of Vanchy, the castle of Crêts with clusters of stone of the Gallo-Roman period, the castle of Musinens, the milestone of 1858 and the border post of the end of the 17th century which marked the limit between France and Savoy are among the historical bookmarks of Valserhone.
Bellegarde-sur-Valserine was created around the railway station built in 1859 on the line Lyon-Geneva. The premises of the old station currently serve as a cultural pole that hosts the media library and the Conservatoire. Apart of the regular concerts the young musicians participate annually in the official events of the municipality.
